the speaker for foreign policy of the Austrian Green Party,
as well as STOP THE BOMB and numerous private persons expressed
their surprise and displeasure (some of them toward the Austrian
president and the Minister of International and European Affairs
directly), that the Austrian UN-delegation did not leave the

numerous European and other UN-delegations did at UN General
Assembly. You can read STOP THE BOMBS's press release here.
Some private protest mails you can only read in the German version.
Some of Austrian media covered the critics in headlines. The
clarification, given by the Ministry of International and European
Affairs, was judged as unsatisfying by those who are concerned
about Austria's reputation in the Western world. |

| The
Austrian-Israel Society and Scholars for Peace in The Middle
East - Austria kindly invited for an event to open the autumn:
Lecture by the late Brig. Gen.
Ephraim
Lapid, "ISRAEL
- a Story of Democracy and Terror" (in
English, with translation into German) Moday,
September 7, 7:00 p.m., "CLUB CUVÉE"
1010 Vienna, Wipplingerstr. 29, 1st floor. |
"Tel Aviv-Beach" in Vienna. In
order to celebrate Tel Aviv's 100th birthday, her partnership-town
Vienna opened a "Tel Aviv-Beach", donated by the State
of Israel, from May to September 2009, located
at Vienna's "Donaukanal" ("Danube-Channel").
The "Donaukanal" isn't really an artificially built
channel, but an old branch of the Danube River, providing many
public attractions for recreation, gastronomy, clubs and varied
scene like arts and crafts and more. The Tel Aviv-Beach at the
"Donaukanal" will be a little, similar "copy"
of the beach in Tel Aviv before an artificial background of
Tel Aviv's skyscrapers, offering the typical beach-feeling and
typical Israeli food. |
