Akademiker für Frieden im Nahen Osten Sektion Austria (SPME Austria) is a non-profit organization, founded as a Chapter of and by Scholars for Peace in the Middle East in Austria. It intends to convey academics and scholars in Austria the importance of Israel's existence and to oppose raising anti-Semitism and anti-Zionist statements at university grounds. For this purpose SPME Austria organizes lectures and symposia and puts publications at scholars' and students' disposal. SPME Austria cooperates with other non-profit, humanitary organizations, whose intentions and targets are compatibe with those of SPME Austria.

SPME Austria was founded in autumn 2006 and cooperates closely with the Oesterreichisch-Israelischen Gesellschaft (Austrian-Israel Society). Several members of the board of SPME Austria are also members of the board of OeIG.

For obvious reasons, now a separate internet platform for this cooperating team was constructed.
